The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:

CIVIL SECURITY TECHNICIAN
(Permanent full-time)
Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator, the selected candidate is responsible for:

• Providing technical assistance and training in the Northern villages in matters concerning Civil Security, including the areas of Fire prevention, Firefighting and Emergency measures;
• Technical assistance of specialized equipment, including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS), and Fire pump Operations;
• Interpretation and implementation of the Nunavik Marine Search and Rescue Stations Administrative and Operational Guidelines, intended for the operation of Nunavik Municipal Search and Rescue Boats;
• Review and assist in regular updating of Municipal Emergency preparedness and Search and Rescue planning;
• Facilitate regular exchange and meetings with municipal and regional partners for Municipal Emergency preparedness and Search and Rescue planning;
• Performing all other duties as requested by the Coordinator.

The selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Secondary V Diploma, relevant work experience will also be considered;
• Certificate of Firefighter 1 from the École Nationale des Pompiers du Québec or in the process of obtaining said certification or willing to enroll in the certification process upon hiring;
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience in fire protection equipment, firefighting, emergency measures or in another relevant field;
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite;
• Communicate verbally and in writing in at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English or French;
• Autonomy and strong communication skills;
• Availability to travel frequently in the Nunavik region.

Salary Range: Min. $52 481 - Max. $89 256 a year (Class 8)

TECHNICIEN EN SÉCURITÉ CIVILE
(Poste permanent à temps plein)

Relevant du Coordonnateur du département de la sécurité civile de l’ARK, la personne sélectionnée devra s’acquitter des tâches suivantes :

• Offrir de l’assistance technique et de la formation dans les villages nordiques dans les domaines touchant la sécurité civile, dont la prévention incendie, la lutte contre les incendies et les mesures d’urgence;
• Offrir de l’assistance technique en ce qui concerne l’équipement spécialisé, incluant les appareils de protection respiratoire autonomes, les systèmes d’extinction par mousse à air comprimé et le fonctionnement des pompes à incendie;
• Interprétation et mise en œuvre des lignes directrices administratives et opérationnelles des stations de recherche et de sauvetage en mer du Nunavik visant la manœuvre des embarcations rapides de sauvetage municipales;
• Revoir et aider à la mise à jour de la planification municipale de la préparation aux situations d’urgence et des opérations de recherche et de sauvetage;
• Assurer des communications régulières et participer aux réunions avec les partenaires municipaux et régionaux en ce qui concerne la planification municipale de la préparation aux situations d’urgence et des opérations de recherche et de sauvetage;
• Exécuter toute autre tâche à la demande du Coordonnateur.

La personne sélectionnée doit satisfaire aux exigences suivantes :

• Détenir un diplôme d’études secondaires (une expérience de travail pertinente sera également prise en considération);
• Détenir un certificat du programme Pompier 1 de l’École nationale des pompiers du Québec ou être déjà inscrite à un tel programme, ou encore, être disposée à s’inscrire au programme une fois embauchée;
• Compter cinq années d’expérience de travail pertinente (équipement de protection incendie, lutte contre les incendies, mesures d’urgence ou tout autre domaine pertinent);
• Avoir une connaissance pratique des logiciels de Microsoft Office;
• Être capable de communiquer tant verbalement que par écrit dans au moins deux des langues suivantes : inuktitut, anglais ou français;
• Être autonome et posséder d’excellentes compétences en communication;
• Être disposée à voyager fréquemment au Nunavik.

Salaire: Minimum de 52, 481$ et maximum de 89, 256$ par année (Classe 8)
